About this deal

The first album from the new group, Back in Black, was issued only five months after Scott's passing but immediately rocketed up the charts, eventually becoming one of rock's all-time classics.

This was the first album I ever bought - probably because I liked the single 'Shook me all night long' and AC/DC were gathering a cult following in my secondary school as lads competed with each other as to whether Mods or Rockers were the coolest to be . When I feeling old and grumpy, I show this to youngs fellows and I told them that these days, music is shitty.Products labelled '*item fulfilled by Exertis on behalf of hmv' will be supplied to you directly by Exertis via their approved couriers. Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places. The inner sleeve shows black-and-white live pictures of the band members, except for Brian Johnson, who was new in the band at the time and hasn't performed yet with AC/DC.

But it is an apt beginning to see the Bon Scott era off and the Brian JOhnson era open for business. In 1979, they paired with producer Lange and recorded their international breakthrough, Highway to Hell. All image and audio content is used by permission of the copyright holders or their agents, and/or according to fair dealing as per the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.Released in July, 1980, Back in Black was the first AC/DC album recorded without former lead singer Bon Scott, who died in February of that year. Bon Scott's alcohol-related death in early 1980 couldn't have come at a worse time for AC/DC; the band was poised for worldwide breakthrough success, as their last album, Highway to Hell, was Angus and company's first gold-certified stateside release. Back in Black received positive critical reception at the time of its release, and it has since been included on numerous lists of "greatest" albums. and it takes a while to truly bed but when it does it sounds miles better than it does on first listen (if that makes any sense at all!

Bought a double RL copy of Yes "Drama" because I had never seen one before only to discover when played it was AC/DC "Back In Black". After years of not knowing what AC/DC track was home to one of the most oft-used riffs (or leads or solos - I never know what this particular one is as it's a bit more involved than a normal riff) that I had heard again and again on tv and on jingles and anything that warranted a cool entrance, I now know that it is 'Back in Black'.

I found a 1980 Australian pressing with the correct listing on the back, but both UK and US pressings with altered lists. Shortly before the recording of their follow-up, lead vocalist Bon Scott died after a night of heavy alcohol consumption. The same can be said of 'Giving the Dog a Bone' which is a dreadfully misogynistic car crash of a song but is so eminently AC/DC that it really doesn't matter. I have played this album on and off now for about thirty years and it still sounds fresh and exciting - a superb rock album and what air guitars were made for.

As with all the reissues of AC/DC's music, the inner sleeve is printed with information around the making of the album (as well as press photos and newspaper excerpts), which is a nice bonus. Rock rarely gets better than AC/DC’s Back in Black, and rock has rarely sounded better than it does on this all-analog pressing mastered from the original mix-down two-track master tapes by George Marino. The track listing on the back, as others have noted, is not actually correct, but this seems true to a lot of original pressings on the album.
