About this deal

Lisa is a New York Times and Sunday Times number one bestselling author who has been published worldwide in over thirty languages.

Trouble starts even before the honeymoon is over, and Rachel realizes the man she has married has a very dark side. She adds tension with dual timelines and the Police Inspector’s investigation uprooting Lucy’s goal of reuniting her family. Furthermore, I would categorise Henry, Lucy, and Marco’s story as more family drama/secrets/tragedy, with Rachel’s being more domestic thriller, and a dash of police procedural thrown in.An investigation into the identity of the deceased is launched and the past comes back to haunt the family! She stared blankly for a moment toward the window, where the summer sun was leaking through the edges of the blind. Although you can piece together the story without reading book one ( The Family Upstairs), it is a better experience if you know (and remember) what happened in that book.

I also loved that some incredibly important issues were tackled in this book, but they were handled with sensitivity. Libby was the archetypal ‘good girl’, simple and uncomplicated, and I did not think there was any room for any more development of her character. We mainly hear from Henry, Lucy, Rachel and DI Samuel Owusu, who is investigating the remains of a young woman that have been found in the River Thames. The first storyline follows Henry Lamb aka Phineas Thomson as he attempts to find the real Phineas Thomsen for unspecified reasons in Chicago. This one is small and quiet by comparison about two women who live in the same corner of north London.I remembered the first book mostly although the details eluded me until this book reminded me, very well, of what exactly had happened in the first book.
