About this deal

No full review from me for this amazing novella, everything about this book can be considered as spoilers for the Mistborn saga. Trying and failing to contact Vin because of Ruin's interference and his inexperience with Preservation's powers, Kelsier decides to instead travels to Urteau and succeeds in freeing Spook from Ruin's influence. However, with Wax and Wayne's adventure belonging in a different timeline, and Eleventh Metal novella also being a very short entry, Secret History was to be the next logical choice. Goradel, a messenger with Kelsier's warning about spikes, travels from Urteau to Fadrex, while Kelsier watches, but Ruin sends for Marsh, who kills Goradel and reads the message aloud to Ruin.

a thin wool coat that went down almost to his feet, and beneath it a shirt that laced closed, with a kind of conical skirt. According to other readers (bare in mind I have only read Sanderson's misborn books so far, so I cant speak for the rest) this novella even had some ties to other Cosmere books. Kelsier is led by the thread of light to a city square full of beggars and once again meets Hoid, who shocks him but otherwise ignores Kelsier. As preservation is losing his battle to Ruin we get to really see what was going on in a different realm…the cognative realm between the gods. This broke my heart, It was sweet that they met in the after life and Kelsier was speechless because he thought he let her down. The Coppermind has spoilers for all of Brandon's published works, now including The Sunlit Man and Defiant. He tells Kelsier that the power must not be released, but Vin will probably do just that, thinking it's right, just like Alendi would have.

His appearance is becoming less human-like, with half of his face missing and other parts of his "body" decaying away. If you are not 100% up to date on the Cosmere, or if you consider information revealed at signings/other events to be spoilers for future books, the rest of this review is not for you. This is a fan indulgent novella that will be rewarding to those who have read a lot of Sanderson’s books but completely pointless to those who have only read a couple or none. This book answered lots of questions from the trilogy, and yes there is an afterlife and of course Kelsier refused to move on, instead he stayed to help his friends to make sure that they defeat Ruin.

Kelsier follows them on their expedition back to Scadrial, and uses his abilities as a Cognitive Shadow to trick the group into believing they have caught Ruin's attention. When he asks Preservation to help him stop Ruin, Preservation tells him to head across the ocean for help. I also have three YA series: The Rithmatist (currently at one book), The Reckoners (a trilogy beginning with Steelheart), and Skyward. Defiant, the fourth and final volume of the series that started with Skyward in 2018, comes out in November 2023, capping an already book-filled year that will see the releases of all four Secret Projects: Tress of the Emerald Sea, The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England, Yumi and the Nightmare Painter, and Secret Project Four (with its official title reveal coming October 2023). When he uncovers Ruin's plans to destroy the world, Kelsier does everything he can to stop him and finds that the only way that he can prevent Ruin's escape is to ensure that Vin takes the power at the Well.Perhaps Sanderson hadn’t figured it all out yet, perhaps his editor told him no, either way this is so important in understanding the ending of The Mistborn Trilogy.

I’m going to give props to the fans and readers of Mistborn because I came into the series late and there is a huge thing that happens in the Final Empire that everyone I knew who had already read it totally kept under wraps and so I was extremely surprised and while heartbreaking it made the story that much greater. The Lord Ruler: A seemingly immortal being who rules the Final Empire, and has oppressed the people for a thousand years. The novella follows the story of Kelsier from Mistborn: The Final Empire and concludes with the events of the last book in the original trilogy, The Hero of Ages. The transfer of power almost kills him, but Kelsier again refuses to die, and watches as Vin sacrifices herself to stop Ruin. Moreover, he chose Spook - the kid who was very, very traumatized by being spiked and manipulated by Ruin - as his partner in crime. Kelsier slowly discovers the nature of Ruin and Preservation, but that was already covered in Hero of Ages. However, Ruin intercepts and kills the messenger using Marsh, Kelsier's brother, who is now under Ruin's control. This page contains extensive spoilers for the entirety of Mistborn Era 1, as well as a part of The Bands of Mourning and the cosmere at large.
