About this deal

After using BalenaEtcher to burn lastest image to a microSD and then an ARMbian system to do u-boot work, the NanoPi booted into setup as I was used to from x86 installations in the past.

I then inserted the card into NanoPi R4S, connected Ethernet cables to the WAN and LAN ports, and powered it using MINIX NEO P2 USB-C power adapter. I put the sd card on the r4s and turn it on, the red led will light up and after some moments the lan and wan led will light up together for like 1-2 seconds then they will turn off to never turn on again and the system led will never turn on. In many cases, the device isn’t fully supported by the “vanilla” Linux kernel, so you’re either stuck with some old kernel build or, by using a newer mainline kernel, you miss out on some features and performance optimizations that haven’t been upstreamed yet. The problem this time is that Armbian hasn’t released yet support for this board, therefore I thought it’s a good chance to benchmark the board itself. To disable the A/B feature, you can refer to the following to modify device/rockchip/rk3399/nanopc-t4/BoardConfig. New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging . This can be fixed by making ctrl+c as default in uboot to make it only enter cli when these key combination of met. The effects will ripple through time and space and improve the support of a lot of other devices now and in the future.

The thing I'm struggling with right now is getting kernel config right as I'm attempting to do a build with 6. In our opinion, the combination of the NanoPi R4S board, including the case, is an excellent choice for users seeking a high-performance SBC for applications that do not require a video output. Additionally, FriendlyELEC has confirmed the board will support several operating systems, including Ubuntu-based FriendlyCore 20.

ports that can interface with external hard drives, 4G modules, USB HD cameras, USB WiFi modules etc. I've seen posts where folks running FBSD kernel can get 940mbps, so it's quite possible that the problem lies with something poorly configured in HBSD, but I don't have the resources to purchase a second device just to troubleshoot. After compilation is done a new image file will be generated in the "rockdev/Image-nanopc_t4/" directory under Android 10's source code directory. Please note that if you use one TF card to boot multiple boards the WiFi device name will likely be named to "wlan1", "wlan2" and etc.

Note: "upgrade_tool" is a command-line tool provided by Rockchip for Linux operating systems (Linux_Upgrade_Tool). There are also GPIOs, two 5-pin headers with one SPI, one I2C, status LED lights, an RTC battery input connector, and an optional 5V fan connector. If you have problems booting without the serial interface connected, add a 10k ohm resistor between GND and RX. This is due to the fact that uboot enters cli mode cause of a hardware bug in uart which shorts it and passed garbage entry when uboot waits for user input to enter cli. With the above in mind and the possibility that we’re all doomed, I thought now would be a good time to see if the new R4S from FriendlyArm (FA) is any better than their abysmal R2S OpenWrt-equipped board which my friend and blog subscriber Antonio (Mr Shark) and I looked at here.NanoPi R4S has been better designed than the previous NanoPi R2S notably in terms of thermal design, as the board, while fitted in the metal case, never exceeded 60°C under load. the LAN interface disconnects and reconnects repeatedly after the nano has been running for a day or two. Note this is winter here, so while the ambient temperature was 30°C for R2S test against around 24°C now. FriendlyCore has some issues, and limited information in NanoPi R2S Wiki, so instead let’s try FriendlyWrt, and I flashed rk3399-sd-friendlywrt-5. After compilation is done a new image file will be generated in the "rockdev/Image-nanopc_t4/" directory under Android7's source code directory.
