The Moselle valley is famous for its scenery and wine. Most well-known is the German Mosel wine region, while the Luxembourg winegrowing region is called Moselle Luxembourgeoise and the French region is called AOC Moselle. Most notable among the wines produced here are Riesling, Elbling, Müller-Thurgau, Kerner, and Auxerrois. The German part of the Moselle is a tourist destination. The department is geographically organized around the Moselle valley. The region was long considered a march between Alsace and the north, remaining relatively poor until the 19th century, and was consequently less urbanized and populous than other regions at the time. With a design inspired by togetherness, the open-plan kitchen-diner creates a cosy setting for quality family time. As with all our lodges, Moselle comes with added assurance from the BS 3632 residential specification, including superb thermal performance and combi-boiler central heating, so you can enjoy time away all-year round. Schengen is a small wine village with great importance. The place was formerly called Remerschen and was renamed in 1985 after the signing of the Schengen Agreement. On the banks of the Moselle, therefore, are the European Museum and the Monument to Europe. In 2010, a part of the Berlin Wall was erected as a monument there. Castle Schengen is also worth a visit.
